1. Hydration is Key
If you’re not a water drinker then you need to become one! Research has shown amongst the amazing benefits of good ol’ H2O, one of them is its ability to promote proper blood circulations – especially around the eyes. This means that blood flows, particularly around the eyes, and helps to diminish those black circles. What’s the result? You’re no longer part of the raccoon family!
2. Get Oily
You can’t use just any oil, but almond oil can be your friend! Yes, it has been known to lighten the skin and reduce any dullness around the eyes. You don’t have to do a whole lot to make it work, simply apply some around your eyes, without getting it in your eyes, and leave it on overnight. It’s almost like a repellant that will help make your skin look refreshed. When you awake, simply wash off the remnant gently and prepare for an amazing day. Repeat nightly for best results.
3. Sunscreen is keen
While most only think about wearing sun screen during the hot summer months, it’s ok to wear it year round. Because the skin under your eyes is very thin, the sunscreen will help prevent hyperpigmentation. Simply apply a little right under your bottom eyelashes, but be sure that the sunscreen you use is made for sensitive areas. You don’t want to irritate it.
4. Less Salt
If you’re one to immediately grab the salt shaker with any meal, please stop! Salt causes your body to retain water. And if you’re not as hydrated as you need to be, puffiness in the eyes can occur. The less sodium you intake, the less tired you’ll be and the less tired you are, the brighter your eyes will appear!
5. Go to Sleep
It sounds very simple, but one sure way to reduce dark circles is to simply have a healthier sleeping lifestyle. If you’re not getting enough sleep, you need to consider several things: type of bed and pillows, meals before bed, and bedtime. If you don’t have the right pillow, it will cause you to lay a certain way that prevents proper circulation. Also, give yourself a digital detox before bed. Staring at the phone screen also hurts your sleep pattern and will eventually cause those friendly dark circles to appear.
Whether it’s poor circulation, genetics, or lifestyle – dark circles are a fact of life, but they can be cured!
